Full spec table

The Flower line is the bigger fountain, from 1.5 L for the Mini up to 3 L, plugged in through an AC adapter. PIXI is a 2 L, USB-powered fountain that comes in a plain, a stainless-top and an app-connected Smart version. Both are cat-only, use a submersible pump, and take a Catit filter that the maker says to change every 4 weeks.

How do the two lines compare on size and power?

Size is the clearest split. The Flower models run from 1.5 L (Mini) to 3 L, and PIXI sits at 2 L throughout. On power they differ in kind: Flower is listed on an AC adapter, PIXI on USB, and neither is cordless. PIXI's product page shows both 2 L and 2.5 L in different blocks; we use the 2 L figure because it appears in the main spec block and in the sister models.

Do they use the same filter?

Almost. Both lines use Catit's cotton mesh, activated carbon and ion-exchange resin construction, and the maker gives a four-week interval for each. The part codes differ, though: Flower fountains take 43745 (Triple Action), 43738 (Flower filter pad) or 44005 on the Mini, while all PIXI models use 43721. Keep a note of your model before reordering, as the filters are not interchangeable.

Which problems are on record?

For both lines, a pump running low on water or with debris on the impeller is the main noise cause. PIXI also has two issues of its own on record: no water coming out, and a pump LED blinking red when the reservoir is low or the pump is not seated. Both lines list a filter saturated with debris, food or hair as a cause of slow flow. Noise levels are not published for any model on either side.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Catit Flower if…

  • You want more water in one go. Three of the four Flower models hold 3 L, and the Mini holds 1.5 L if you want less.
  • You want a nightlight. The LED Flower Fountain and the Stainless Steel Flower Fountain are described with a nightlight, and the Flower has three flow settings.
  • You are happy to use a wall adapter, because the Flower models are listed as AC adapter powered.
  • A kitten or small cat is the user: the Mini Flower is pitched at kittens and small cats by the maker.

Choose Catit PIXI if…

  • You want USB power, which is how all three PIXI models are listed.
  • You want an app. Only the PIXI Smart has one, with Wi-Fi alerts and timers, and the maker names UV-C clarification for it.
  • You prefer a stainless steel top that goes in the dishwasher. Two of the three PIXI models state this.
  • A single, smaller size suits the space: all three PIXI models are 2 L, so the choice among them is about the top and the app, not the capacity.
