Catit cat water fountains

Catit has two fountain families in our database. The Flower line (Flower, LED Flower, Stainless Steel Flower and Mini Flower) runs from a power adapter, while the PIXI line (PIXI, PIXI with Stainless Steel Top and PIXI Smart) runs on USB. All are cat fountains with a submersible pump and a triple action filter.

How is the Catit line-up organized?
Catit is Rolf C. Hagen's cat brand, and its fountains in our database split cleanly in two. The Flower family comes in four versions: the plain Flower Fountain, an LED version with a nightlight, a Stainless Steel Flower Fountain with a dishwasher-safe top cover, and a Mini at 1.5 L for kittens and small cats. All Flower models except the Mini hold 3 L and run on a power adapter, and the maker states the plain Flower Fountain is made of BPA-free plastics.
The PIXI family is newer and USB-powered; for the plain PIXI the maker states under 1 W. It comes as a plastic PIXI, a PIXI with a wide, shallow stainless top, and an app-connected PIXI Smart. All three hold 2 L. The PIXI's pump is detachable and has an LED that blinks when the water runs low. Every Catit model uses a submersible pump, so none is pumpless or wireless.
Which Catit model suits which home?
- Several cats or a bigger tank: the 3 L Flower models give the most water in the line.
- A kitten or one small cat in a small space: the Mini Flower at 1.5 L is the smallest, and the maker pitches it at kittens and small cats.
- A wide, shallow drinking surface: the PIXI with Stainless Steel Top and the PIXI Smart have a stainless top. Catit lists the top as dishwasher safe on both.
- Tracking and alerts: only the PIXI Smart has an app. If your home Wi-Fi is 5 GHz only, check that before choosing it.
- An outlet-free corner: none of Catit's fountains in our database is battery-powered. Look at the cordless roundup.
Filters and pumps
Filters follow the family. The 3 L Flower models take the Triple Action filter (43745) or the Flower filter pad (43738); the Mini takes its own Mini filter (44005); the PIXI models take the PIXI filter (43721). Catit gives 30 days for all of them, which we record as four weeks. The Catit filters page has the table with sources.
Common Catit problems
Our records for Catit come from its manuals and cover four problems: no water coming out of the PIXI, a blinking red LED on the PIXI pump, a noisy pump on both families, and a saturated filter that slows the flow. Most come down to water level, impeller debris or filter age. Steps, replacement conditions and sources are on the Catit troubleshooting page.

Known Catit issues
Pump clogged or needs a restart (no water coming out)
- Unplug the fountain and plug it back in.
- If water still does not flow, open the pump, lift out the impeller cap and impeller, and rinse away debris.
- Reassemble and refill so the pump is fully covered.
When to replace a part: The pump still will not run after cleaning.

Pump LED blinking red because the reservoir is low or the pump is not seated
- Refill the reservoir.
- Check that the pump hangs level and is attached correctly to the top section.
- If the LED alternates red and white and flow is uneven, the water is almost gone, so top up.

Pump running low on water or with debris on the impeller
- Unplug the fountain and take out the pump.
- Open the pump, remove the impeller cap and impeller, and clean off hair and debris (a cotton swab helps).
- Refit the parts carefully and top up the water so the pump is fully submerged.
When to replace a part: The pump stays noisy once it is clean and submerged.
Filter saturated with debris, food or hair, slowing the flow
- Rinse the filter under water without soap on a regular basis.
- Replace it every 3 to 4 weeks, or sooner if it looks full or the flow drops.
- Change it more often when several pets use the fountain or the water is hard.
