PetSafe and Drinkwell filters by model

Drinkwell fountains use two filters: a foam pre-filter that catches hair, and a carbon filter for taste and odor. PetSafe says to change carbon every 2 to 4 weeks and foam every 1 to 2 months, and the 360 fountains take a different carbon filter from the ceramic Pagoda, Seascape and Creekside.

Which Drinkwell filter fits which fountain?
Drinkwell fountains pair a foam pre-filter, which PetSafe says catches hair and debris before the pump, with a carbon filter. Two carbon filters exist in our database, and which one you need depends on the fountain.
| Fountain | Carbon filter | Foam pre-filter | Pump |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drinkwell Stainless Steel Multi-Pet (360) | PAC00-13712 (3-pack) | PAC00-13711 (2-pack) | PAC00-13206 |
| Drinkwell Pagoda Ceramic | PAC00-13906 (4-pack) | PAC00-13711 | PAC00-13206 |

PetSafe also lists the replacement pump for the Avalon, Zen and Sedona fountains, and notes that other pump part numbers exist for gallon-size models. The Platinum and Outdoor Dog fountains and the HydroSphere models are not in the table because we do not have a documented filter code for them. Each source is shown beside its row in the finder above.
How often should I change them?
PetSafe's stated numbers: carbon filters every 2 to 4 weeks, foam filters every 1 to 2 months. The foam does the heavy work in homes with long-haired pets, and the PetSafe fix records list a foam pre-filter full of hair and debris as a cause of a starved pump. Rinse the foam when you clean the fountain and replace it on the longer cycle. The interval page compares PetSafe with other brands.
How do I replace a Drinkwell filter?
The sequence in the diagram applies: unplug the fountain, lift out the old filter, rinse the new one, seat it, then refill and restart. PetSafe's manual for your model shows how the foam and carbon filter are arranged. We do not have a direction note recorded for these filters, so follow the manual's drawing.
- Unplug the fountain and pour out the water.
- Remove the old carbon filter and, if it is due, the foam.
- Rinse the pump and intake while the parts are out.
- Fit the new parts, refill, plug in and check for steady flow.
Troubleshooting after a change
If the flow is weak or the pump is loud after a filter change, the usual culprit is hair and film around the pump impeller. The noisy pump fix covers it. For the Drinkwell line-up and official links, see the PetSafe brand page.
FAQ
Which filter does the Drinkwell 360 take?
The Stainless Multi-Pet (360) fountain is listed with the 360 carbon filter (PAC00-13712) and the foam filter (PAC00-13711). PetSafe states the 360 carbon filter for the Stainless Multi-Pet and 360 fountains.
Do the Pagoda, Seascape, Creekside and Seaside use the same filter?
Yes, they are listed with the same carbon filter (PAC00-13906, a 4-pack) and the same foam filter (PAC00-13711). The pump is shared as well (PAC00-13206).
How often do Drinkwell filters need changing?
Carbon every 2 to 4 weeks, foam about every 1 to 2 months, according to the maker.
What about the Platinum, Outdoor Dog and HydroSphere?
Our database does not have a documented filter code for them. PetSafe says the Platinum includes a foam pre-filter and a carbon filter, and the HydroSphere uses an Ion-X filter; check the manual or product page for the part number.
