Full spec table

Power is the only row that changes. The cordless model has a built-in 5200 mAh battery and can also be plugged in, and the plug-in model runs only on its AC adapter. Capacity, tray material, app, filter, change interval and claimed noise are identical in our data.

What does the table show?

Eleven rows match, and one differs. Both models hold 3 L, have a stainless steel tray on a plastic body, use a wireless pump, claim 23 dB, take the PL-FF005 filter on a two-week schedule and are listed for cats and dogs with an app. The dishwasher-safe part is the stainless steel water tray on both. The battery, power source and cordless rows are the whole difference.

Does cordless change how it works?

PETLIBRO describes the same pumpless design for both: a motor in the base spins a rotor inside the tank, so no pump sits in the water. The cordless model uses its battery or a plugged-in cable, so you can still run it from a wall socket and keep the battery as a backup. We do not have any figure for how long a charge lasts with several pets, because the maker states the 30 days only for one pet.

Do both have the same problems?

Yes, the sourced issues are identical, because PETLIBRO's support pages cover both models together. They include a water sensor that needs calibrating, a dirty rotor shaft, leaks, noise, weak flow from a clogged filter and rust on the stainless tray. For the cordless model, a charging problem could be added to that list, but we hold no sourced entry for it, so treat it as a question for support.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Dockstream 2 Cordless if…

  • The drinking spot has no outlet nearby. The cordless model runs on its battery, and the maker says up to 30 days per charge for one pet in sensor mode.
  • You like to move the fountain around, for example between rooms or when cleaning the floor.
  • You are fine with charging it from time to time. The maker's 30 days is for a single pet in sensor mode, so a busier household should expect to charge sooner.

Choose Dockstream 2 Plug-in if…

  • A socket is within reach and you would rather never think about charging.
  • You want the fountain running continuously without watching a battery level.
  • You are happy with the simpler build: the plug-in listing shows no battery, and the table leaves that cell as not published.
